Dr. Nathan M. Tanner, DMD - OHSU Graduation - June 8, 2007

Congratulations on dental school graduation to Nate and Misty! Nate received his DMD degree on June 8, 2007 at Oregon Health Sciences University in Portland, Oregon. (Nate and Misty were married four years ago just before dental school started so student life is all they have experienced so far.) Nate will be working at Gentle Dental in Gresham, Oregon beginning August 1st. I will be his first patient on his first day of work! (Nate has passed his dental boards and has his license to practice dentistry.)

Little Adalei loves to check out mouths so maybe they have a future dentist also! Nate and Misty just purchased their first home in Camas, Washington so I'm really excited to have them close!

Adalei is very active and couldn't wait for one more picture. As you can see in the pictures above, I needed one more picture to catch everyone with their eyes open at the same time.

I asked Nate what he wanted to do after graduation to celebrate. His request was to attend the Portland Temple. Charity, Nate, Misty, Jason, Ashley, Casey, Jenna and I attended a session that afternoon and had a really nice time together. (Jason took this awesome picture of the temple below on my camera for me.)

Easter 2007 - Beaverton, Oregon

Easter morning with Adalei after her shower and getting ready for Church! She's on her cell phone "talking"! This cute outfit was given to Adalei for Christmas by her Aunt Charity! What a cute dress!


Adalei is now 18 months old and in the nursery at Church. She just watches the other children!

Snack time with Adalei and her friend Joey. She is eating pretzels and dried cranberries. You can see how slow she is eating compared to Joey!

Germs in nursery do abound! (Joey getting his nose wiped while Adalei is drinking from her little cup.)

The cute little pink Easter bag and the purple bunny cup are Easter gifts from grandma!

What a yummy Easter dinner Misty made! Deviled eggs and jello eggs with my favorite Easter cake - chocolate cake with vanilla frosting, green tinted coconut for grass, and jelly beans for the Easter eggs. It was all so good. Look how good Adalei is in the picture below waiting for food to eat!

You can't tell by Adalei's expression but she loved her first chocolate Easter bunny! Of course, her dad only let her have a couple of bites before it disappeared.

Nate and Misty gave excellent talks in Sacrament meeting and I watched Adalei. I also went to nursery with her during Primary so I could get some nursery pictures! It was a really fun Easter day for me!!!

Four Generation Family Picture - January 2007

Here's the first four generation family picture for us! From the left is Nate, the father of Adalei; Elmer, my father; Adalei, and then me! Adalei is named after my father's mother - Ada.


Adalei is the first child of Misty and Nate (see the picture of them below). When Adalei was born, I became a proud grandmother and just love being a grandmother! She is my first grandchild. My father is now a great-grandfather because of Adalei! The ages from the youngest to oldest are as follows: Adalei - 16 months, Nate - 29 years old, me - 49 years old, and my dad - 76 years old! (These pictures were taken in Vancouver at Claire's wedding.)

Tiling Around Bathtub - March 2007

Look at the great job I did tiling my first bathtub! These pictures are arranged with the before, middle, and then after the project was completed. I hope you'll be as amazed as I am to see how well this project turned out!

I have to give credit to Sabrina (Jenna's mom) for my success on this project as she inspired me last Christmas. I saw her beautiful tiling in her kitchen and after talking to her about it, decided to do my own project that I had been wanting to do for several years.

Before pictures!
You will see in the picture above and the one below that there is no tile around the bathtub. This has caused a problem because the faucet and spout are both above the tub. When you use the tub, the sheetrock on the wall would get wet from the water splashing against the tub as it came out of the spout. Thus, I had only used my tub a few times in the five years I've lived in this house because I didn't want to ruin the sheetrock anymore.

Middle of the tiling project!

The picture above and the picture below show you how the tub looked after I put the tile on the wall. The first step was to glue the tile to the wall. Then, it needed to dry for 48 hours so I had to complete the project in two phases. This part of the project was easy and fun.

Also, notice the old window coverings in the pictures above that include the window. These window coverings had been in my house since I bought it. Unfortunately, the window coverings didn't open and close easily so the blinds were almost always down keeping out the light.

Project completed!

Look at the picture just above and the one below! I did this all by myself! I think it is great for my first job! Aren't you impressed? This part took awhile as I was grouting between the tiles, at the top of the two rows of tile, and at the bottom where the tile and the tub came together. I didn't want to miss anywhere but I also didn't want the grout to dry on the tiles. I think it looks really good. I have been using my tub more frequently and water no longer splashes on the wall. I am really happy with the project completed. I even had to cut the tiles to fit around the spout and it looks great!

Also, notice the new window coverings in the picture below. I love these shutters! My bathroom looks so much better now. I am really pleased!
