The Bahamas!

The picture above was taken in Freeport, the Bahamas.  They had food for sale in the cute little buildings but I didn't see anyone buying it.
People at the market had little rooms in tents with their stuff for sale.  These women were making baskets and you can see all the stuff for sale behind them.

My Aunt Marcene and I had fun buying jewelry.  We both bought necklaces and other jewelry from this woman.  She was an excellent sales woman.  We both spent $25 on jewelry from her.
This picture above and the others below were taken in Nassau, the Bahamas.  Nassau is the capital of the Bahamas.  This picture above shows the entry into the straw market where the women were selling t-shirts, jewelry, toys, purses, etc. (as shown in the picture below).
From this woman above, I bought three purses for Adalei, Brielle, and Paisley.  The woman put their names on the back of each one and I took a picture of her as she was putting the names on.
This is a picture of the ocean from Nassau.  So beautiful.  The water was so clear.  We could see the fish swimming in the water and there were a lot of fish.
The picture above was taken on Bay Street - the main shopping street in Nassau.  We found jewelry in a store as cheap or cheaper than in the straw market.
This man in the white jacket is a policeman directing traffic.  I didn't see any traffic lights.  It was a busy street.
The policeman above was giving someone a ticket.
This was taken as we were leaving Nassau.  I had a fantastic time in the Bahamas and really enjoyed it.  It was so hard to leave and return home.  It was very relaxing.

Key West, Florida

The pictures above and below are from the ship docked in Key West.

Streets of Key West above and a piece of yummy Key Lime Pie homemade in Key West.

This is a picture of Clam and Conch Chowder.  In Key West and the Bahamas they have conch which I had never heard of before.  They are in shells.  We had fried conch fritters and then this conch in the chowder.  Both were good due to the spices but I really couldn't taste the conch.  It must be a very mild flavor - much like the clams.

Cruising from Charleston, South Carolina (February 4th)

I went on a cruise from Charleston, SC with ports of call at Key West (Florida) and the Bahamas - Freeport and Nassau.  I spend a day and a half in Charleston before leaving on the cruise.  I had a great time with my Aunt Marcene in the Market there.  I was fascinated by the men and women sitting outside the market making the baskets shown on both sides of the picture above.
This is a picture of the Port of Charleston above and a picture of a Charleston bridge below.

Above is a picture of our cruise ship which held 2,500 people.  The best part of the cruise ship was that it had soft serve ice cream 24 hrs per day.  My aunt Marcene and I had a great time and really enjoyed our ice cream.  I think I had at least one cone every day and more than one cone most days.  You can see how happy we are with our ice cream in the picture below!

It was cloudy most of the cruise and I loved the beautiful colors of the sunrise above.

Adalei on the phone

I was talking to Adalei on the phone yesterday while I was on my way to work. She asked me if I had toys at my work. I replied no, that I work on a computer and have meetings. She then asked why I didn't have toys and proceeded to tell me that her dad had toys at his work. I thought that was cute. It made me smile.
