First House for Nate/Misty/Adalei and New Commuter Car for the Dentist!

Nate and Misty have purchased their new house - their first home - the end of June 07. It is a 3 bedroom house with 2 1/2 baths, 2 car garage, large lot, 1950 square feet, and approximately 12 years old. It needed extensive cleaning, carpet removal, repainting, new flooring downstairs and upstairs. As of 8/27/07, this is what the house looks like. The carpet installation is scheduled for early September and they will be ready to move in.

Misty is cleaning and Adalei is talking on the cell phone. Adalei is so cute!!!! They are in one of the bedrooms.

August 14, 2007 - What a surprise! Acute appendicitis!

Here's two pictures of me recovering from my surgery! Adalei was so good to keep me entertained while I rested. Misty was great at the meals. I didn't feel like watching TV or reading so Adalei and Misty really helped my days go fast. (It was really hard using two weeks of vacation time to recover from my surgery. Oh, well, at least I have a job.) See below for the details of what happened!














I became nauseated and my stomach hurt the night before. I couldn't sleep all night due to the pain. Nate wanted to take me to the emergency room but I talked him into letting me wait until morning so I could go see my internal medicine doctor.

I was on the phone at the doctor's office at 8 am with a 9 am appointment. I drove myself there as I didn't have enough time for Susan or Misty to get ready and take me.

After the doctor examining me, the nurse took my blood for testing and found that my white blood cell count was over 16,000. The doctor thought I had acute appendicitis. So he called an ambulance and made arrangements for me to be met at the hospital.

The ER doctor made the same diagnosis and I was admitted to the hospital around 11 am. I was on morphine from when I left the doctor's office so the pain wasn't too bad. Finally, around 5:30 pm, I was into surgery. At 8 pm, I was back in my room. (Room 442-1 at Southwest Washington Medical Center)

My surgery went well. The appendix was bad so removed. It had leaked so some fluid had to be suctioned from my abdomen. I have 3 holes - 1 through my belly button.

I came home on Thursday with 30 pain pills and requirements not to do anything strenuous or go back to work until I had Dr approval. I will see the Dr again next week for the post-op check up. I need to be careful for 6 long weeks. The hardest part will be not lifting Adalei.

Dr. Tanner's First Day - August 1, 2007

August 1, 2007 - Dr. Nathan M. Tanner's first day as a dentist. This is a picture of him in his office ready to go to work.
















Dr. Tanner works for Gentle Dental in Gresham, Oregon.












I was one of his first patients on the first day.













He even found that I had one cavity! A tiny one so no additional dental work needed for now.

I took Nate to lunch on his first day of work. I had a yummy vegetarian sandwich and he had a prime rib sandwich. He was busy at the office so we ate fast!

Japan, Kyoto (July 2007)

A view of downtown Kyoto from up on the hill by one of the famous temples. The tower in the center of the picture is the train station. We walked from the train station up to see the temples and back again.










I bought a yukata from this man. He was so pleased to have his picture taken with Nate and Adalei. This man and his wife live in one room behind this shop that was about the same size as the store portion. The yukata cost me $29. This is a summer kimono that I will use as a summer bathrobe! It is made of cotton as the silk ones cost around $135 or more.

A View of the Japanese Country and Some Stormy Skies (July 2007)

I loved the bright green rice fields in Japan and the beautiful clouds. It rained a few days while we were there until the typhoon had passed through.
