Lincoln City for the Day - 3/15/10

I took a day off work for a mental health day to visit the ocean. It was so relaxing. I really enjoyed the day. I captured a few photos from my day at the beach. This picture above is my favorite picture taken that day.

This picture below reminds me of the poem, "Footprints in the Sands of Time."

I just love the beauty and serenity of the ocean beach.

I was fascinated by this foam washing in from the ocean as the waves came in and out.

The picture above shows "MARRY ME" - hopefully it made someone's day very happy!

A peaceful view of the quiet beach.......... It was a wonderful day from beginning to end. I love living so close to the ocean.

PeopleSoft Training in San Antonio, Texas

After leaving Pennsylvania, I flew directly to San Antonio for training. It was my first time in San Antonio.

The picture above is of the famous river walk. It was cold and windy so no one else was out there except for me.

This was a memorable meal..... My last dinner in San Antonio. It cost $13 for this appetizer at the Restaurant Insignia. It was called Breakfast for Dinner. The description said,
"Braised Pork Belly with Blueberry Pancakes, Pineapple Jam, and Maple Syrup!"
It was pretty good but I wouldn't order it again. I wanted to try something different and I sure did!

Dinner at the Oldest House in Gettysburg - 235 yrs.

Ami and Dwain took me to dinner at the oldest building in Gettysburg. It was built in 1875.

It is a beautiful building and nicely restored.

The picture above is poor quality because I took it through a piece of glass. This house has a floor where the slaves lived prior to the civil war. From floor to ceiling was maybe 3 feet. Can you imagine living in such conditions? This scene portrays how it probably was for the slaves. This man couldn't even sit up straight.

Beautiful stone work on the outside of the house.............

This house must have been a mansion due to how big it is today.

The library room shown above was my favorite room.
Below is a picture of the best prime rib! Wow! It was good. I didn't eat all of it but I sure wanted to. It was delicious. Dwain, Ami, Gary, Dad, Mellie and I went to dinner and had a memorable time. Dwain and Ami - thanks for treating me to dinner. It was great!

Sights of Bedford County, Pennsylvania

These pictures pretty much speak for themselves. We had a beautiful drive in Bedford County. The snow really made beautiful pictures.

The picture of the trailer Venus described as the "poor man's castle."




























These view pictures were taken at the summit of the Blue Ridge Mountain. You can see it is just over 2,000 ft. high. I think it was John Denver that sang about the Blue Ridge Mountains. I was there and it was snowing as we came down the mountain side. So beautiful!

Announcing the arrival of Benson

I'm so excited to see Jenna and Casey's new baby! Isn't he so cute? I can hardly wait to hold him. He is my 7th grandchild and my 4th grandson. I am a very happy grandma!

There's a first time for everything.........

Here are the pictures of my new car. For the first time ever, I bought my car all by myself. It was an exhausting day on Saturday but I bought my car. I didn't get a great deal but it was just less than blue book so I think I did okay. I'll do better if there's a next time.
It took me awhile to decide what type of car I wanted and which color. I appreciate the input Jason gave me for my purchase. I'm happy with my new car.
I just hope I can soon settle with the insurance company and remain accident free for life!

Gettysburg at Sunset (2/10)

Ami took me on a tour of the battlefield in Gettysburg. It was at sunset and so beautiful.

There are many monuments like this one above that honors those troops that gave their lives during the Battle of Gettysburg. 51,000 lives were lost. This was the bloodiest and worst battle of the Civil War.

These fences above reminded me of going on field trips in school to Gettysburg. The fences are part of what I remember from those informative years.

This flag above is in the middle of Gettysburg at the town square in the center of town. It reminded me of all the freedoms we have in this country.

This was my final picture taken at the battle field. Thanks to Ami for a wonderful tour. After the tour we went to the outlets and had a splendid time! :)

Covered Bridges in Bedford County, Pennsylvania

My last day in Pennsylvania was spent driving, finding covered bridges and taking pictures. There are more covered bridges than any other states. The snow really added a lot to the photos.

The sign above the bridge says, "$5 fine for driving or riding faster than a walk over the bridge." We saw this same sign on more than one bridge. The bridges are still in use and I don't think there is a fine for driving faster than walking.

It was snowing part of the day. At one bridge we were truly 4-wheel driving. Lance was so funny; he put the truck in neutral and hit the gas so we all believed we were stuck in the snow for a bit. It was such a fun day.

This picture above is part of the mill built next to the stream with the covered bridge.

The bridges have similar design but if you look closely you can see the differences.

We started in Breezewood where we got a map of covered bridge locations. We drove from one bridge to another. It was fun just like a scavenger hunt as the covered bridges were difficult to find. I think it was Venus that said she wished she had a little prize for whoever found each bridge first. We laughed and talked, took pictures and found bridges.
In the picture below, you can see the scavenger group for covered bridge hunting: Lance, Gary, Candice, Venus, me and dad. Look how happy we all are!

The stream was frozen at this bridge.

The covered bridges were off the main roads since they were only one lane bridges.

Lance and Candice took time to initiate a little snowball fight that was fun and refreshing for those that participated.

This last day was one of the highlights of my trip. I'd love to do this again and see even more covered bridges next time.
