BYU Homecoming 2007

I just had a fantastic weekend in Provo with Casey and Jenna. This is where they live - on the left side of the house. Casey rides this bike to and from campus every day.

Here's Casey at the front door.

This is where Jenna works in Provo. She works 8 am to 5 pm, Monday to Friday. She really enjoys her job.

This is Jenna going back to work after lunch. (Jenna, I wasn't quick enough to get a picture with your smiling face. I think this is a great picture but I'll take it off if you don't like it.) I really liked her boss' car - a mini cooper.

This is the "Y" on the side of the mountain in Provo. I wanted a night shot with the "Y" lighted but didn't get a good one. I'll have to go back again for that.

Casey and Jenna are in front of the Marriott Center. We went to the Homecoming Spectacular. This event is my favorite at BYU. I have so much fun going every year.

Unfortunately, I couldn't take pictures during the Homecoming Spectacular performance. This is a picture before it started. The theme this year was "Coming Full Circle." My favorite parts of the program were the Young Ambassadors - dancing to a hymn, song from Mary Poppins, Tarzan, and the Tabernacle Choir singing the Battle Hymn of the Republic - Casey and Jenna even got to sing with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir! It was a fantastic evening.

On Friday while Jenna worked, I insisted on buying some groceries for Casey and Jenna. Casey didn't let me buy much (as you can see from the cart) but I had to take advantage of the cereal for $1/box - I bought 16 boxes! I probably should have gotten even more.

After the BYU Homecoming, we wanted to get BYU Creamery ice cream but everyone else seemed to have the same idea. We stopped at the grocery store and picked out our own treats! I had a chocolate sorbet - low in calories!

Saturday morning we got up quite early and hiked 1.5 miles up Mt. Timpanogos to see the cave tour. You can see how exhausted I was. They tour gave us from 8:20 am to 9:50 am to make the climb. Even though I was recovering from surgery and slowed Casey and Jenna considerably, we made it to this point before 9 am! I was impressed. There were two boy scout troops and they barely made it there before us so I think we did great.

I liked this picture from on top of Mt. Timpanogos.

Jenna and I had a fun time taking pictures. Casey didn't even wear a sweatshirt in the caves. It was an hour hike in 40 degree temperature. I was chilly and would have appreciated a few more hot flashes!

Here we are together before the cave tour!

Inside the caves!

another one...........

Our tour guide - Jane - she is an art teacher in American Fork and only works on the weekend during school but 40 hours a week during the summer. These caves are only open for tours from June to mid-October since there's too much snow the rest of the year. Snow was expected the night after we were there.

interesting colors........

Jenna and Casey on top of the world!

The beautiful fall colors at Mt. Timpanogos.

Read this sign so you know what a hike it is up to the caves. Now you can understand why I was so exhausted. I am still under a doctor's care so I probably wouldn't have received doctor approval to make the hike. I'm fine so no harm in making the trip!

While Casey and Jenna went to the football game with BYU and Air Force, I enjoyed campus. The flowers are so beautiful. I also spent a fair amount of time in the BYU Bookstore. I bought myself a "BYU Mom" hot chocolate cup with light purple flowers.

I also went to the play - "You're a good man , Charlie Brown." It was really cute and funny too. The program stated - "If in our adult worlds we remain so far distant from children that we forget the simple things, we've not only robbed ourselves of many wonderful adventures but of rich joy and happiness as well. Have we learned to deal with who we are? Have we learned to like ourselves even if the kite always get eaten by the tree or the baseball game is 40-0 like Charlie Brown? Or have we given up? Perhaps we can gain some insight into who we are today."

The picture above is Snoopy with Charlie Brown. The characters really did a great job. This picture is Charlie Brown with Linus.

Saturday night was dinner with Uncle Morris, Aunt Christi, and cousin Malcolm. We ate at Mimi's and had a fabulous time. It is always fun to get together and talk!

It rained quite a bit in Provo yesterday and the clouds were turning dark as we drove to the airport. I just loved these beautiful clouds....

I'm sure Jenna and Casey encountered some rain on their way back to Provo.

I had a great time! Jenna and Casey were great to show me a fun time!

It's a miracle, for the first time, my picture was featured on Mom's blog. How long did it take for my picture to make it on here?

I am glad you had so much fun in our beautiful Utah. I live not to far from Provo, just a little west of Lehi. It is a beautiful place.
