I debated whether to go to Kalamazoo, Michigan, or not. There really wasn't much to do there. It looked so interesting and beautiful on the Internet. I really wanted to visit. Just the name alone made it sound interesting. There are lots of museums and art galleries but I wasn't feeling like going to those the day we visited so we just walked around and saw the city. In the picture above, I am right downtown Kalamazoo!
They call it "K-zoo." It is a small, college town. The college is right down town. It is a cute, clean town. The river runs through it.
We walked along the river and hunted for the sign that welcomes you to K-zoo!
I think this is it!
I thought this building was lovely.
The best part of our visit to K-zoo was our lunch. We had Thai food at a restaurant that had some of the very best Thai food I have ever had! It was so good! I would love to go there again! Carma didn't think she had Thai food for 20 yrs so it was definitely time for her to have it again. She didn't have a good Thai place any closer than K-zoo to her so I'm glad we went there for that reason.
After returning from K-zoo, we took the kids and Carma treated us to chocolate fondue at the South Bend Chocolate Cafe in St. Joseph. They had fruit and goodies to dip into the melted chocolate. We enjoyed it very much and I made sure we didn't waste a drop! Here's a picture of Derek and Audrey above. It was so fun to spend time with them. Derek spent a lot of time hunting and fishing so I didn't get to see him much. Audrey was busy with school and friends.
The last day was a relaxing day with a couple of yard sales and errands. Then in the evening Danielle was part of half time entertainment at the High School football game. She plays the flute in the band. (She is on the right above.) She did a great job. The game was fun. They started off with fireworks, shot more fireworks every time the team scored, and ended the game with even more fireworks! It was great!
Throughout the week, I peeled apples and we made several apple crisps and four apple pies. I think there were also some apples to make apple sauce. I know Carma had lots more to do after I left. I was glad I could at least help her do some while I was there. I should have taken a picture of the beautiful baked goodies but I didn't!
My 10 days in Michigan just flew by - it was so fun! I made so many awesome memories! I am so blessed to have such a marvelous sister! We learned that we are a lot alike and we had fun together! I hope we can get together again soon! It was a priceless experience. My sister is the best!
Thanks Carma for a great visit to Michigan and Indiana! It was fun and interesting - just awesome!
