Thanksgiving Day in Roseville was quite eventful for all of us. Most of us started out running the Folsom Turkey Trot. Jason, Ashley, Casey, and Jenna ran the 10k. Charity and I were pleased to be running the 5k. We were happy that we ran almost the whole way and finished the race in just over 14 minute miles. The 10k race started and ended before the 5k race so Charity and I expected to have a family cheering section as we neared the finish line. We were surprised that no one was there. Just minutes later we found out that Jenna was in the ambulance and had fainted before the finish line and they were all there with her. She ended up spending most of the day in the hospital as she didn't bounce back quickly after getting fluids from being dehydrated. I was really concerned about her and quite relieved when she was released from the hospital in the late afternoon. She gave us quite a scare. Thus, there are no post-race pictures of us after finishing the turkey trot. While Jenna was in the hospital, her wonderful neighbor Mary (above), came over and started helping us prepare the turkey for dinner. Jenna had already made the pies and most of the dinner so we just had a few things to make to get dinner ready while she was getting better at the hospital. Ashley, Charity, and Joanna were making part of dinner as well.
Ashley peeled potatoes.
Jason set up the tables and then after Jenna came home they decided where everyone would sit.
Jenna made these adorable turkeys out of oreo cookies and candy for each of the kids. (I was wishing I was a kid!)
It was a really busy kitchen. Jenna's sister Joanna and her husband Brock made some delicious dressing to go with the turkey.
Casey did a great job carving the delicious turkey. Of course, Jenna had a great recipe for preparing the turkey and it turned out great!
We had four tables to hold everyone. I don't remember the count of how many people we had. I'm guessing it was twenty two.
The new caramel apple cheesecake bars that Charity made were quite delicious. Jenna's pumpkin pies were so cute (with the leaf and pumpkin face) and delicious! Ashley made delicious coconut and pecan pies that are always a big hit. Joanna made a delicious lemon pie that went fast. We had so many good desserts that we had to have small pieces of each one as it was hard to decide on what we wanted. The kids loved the pumpkin pies.
Casey got out this marble game while dinner was cooking.
Everyone was having fun with the game - even little Allison.
While Jenna was in the hospital, we let the kids watch some Christmas movies that we had planned to watch after Thanksgiving. Weston and Spencer enjoyed watching The Grinch that Stole Christmas.
Paisley had fun dressing up in the wig, hat, and glasses. I thought she looked so cute so I took a picture. It was a cute Thanksgiving shirt she had on also!
We had a most delicious Thanksgiving meal and Jenna was generous to share leftovers with everyone! Thanks Jenna for hosting our fabulous feast! It was grand!
